BIO

Georgios Theodoridis was born in Böblingen, Germany.  At the age of 13, he moved to Greece where he graduated from the Ecclesiastical High School of Tinos, and where for the very first time he was exposed to Byzantine music.  Upon graduation, he moved to Athens where he studied Byzantine Music theory.  He holds an honors degree in Byzantine Music, as well as the Music Teacher Diploma, from the Conservatory of Egaleo in Athens, Greece.  Georgios presently serves Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Washington, D.C. as the Master Chanter (Protopsaltis), Choir Master and Director of the Office of Music Arts.

George Theodoridis is not only a Master Chanter, but he is also the Archon Music Instructor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. In that capacity he shares his knowledge as a guest lecturer at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA for advanced courses in the study of Byzantine Music. He is also the Director of the Archdiocesan School of Byzantine Music.
